App Style in Craft

Craft now extends your document’s styling beyond the page—bringing its colors into the surrounding app interface for a more unified and immersive experience. This feature, called App Styles, uses your document’s text and background colors to style the “app chrome” (the surrounding UI), offering a more cohesive look and feel as you work.

What Is App Style?

App Style applies your document’s text and background colors to parts of the Craft interface. This means that the sidebar, toolbar, and other UI elements will reflect the document's theme, making the editing experience more visually consistent.

Where It Applies

  • Supported on:
    • Mac
    • iPad
  • Not yet enabled on iPhone
  • Available in:
    • Editor view only — the rest of the app (like Home or Browse) continues to use the system default UI style.
  • Applies only to:
    • Text color and background color. The UI still uses system fonts to maintain readability and performance.

How to Enable or Disable App Style

You’re in full control of this feature. To toggle it:

  1. Click or tap your profile photo in the top-right corner.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Navigate to Appearance and Sound.
  4. Toggle "Use document style for the app" on or off, depending on your preference.

Why Use It?

  • Brings a more immersive and personalized editing experience
  • Matches the tone or mood of your workspace visually
  • Keeps UI clean while still maintaining system stability and legibility

We’re continuing to refine the Craft experience, and App Styles is just one way we’re helping you feel more at home in your workspace. Let us know what you think!
