How to Start the Import

Go to the import page to get started.

Locate Your Obsidian Vault

Your vault is a folder on your computer containing your Markdown notes and attachments.
Press Cmd + Space to open Spotlight Search, type the name of your vault, and select it to reveal it in Finder.

Import Your Vault

1

Upload your vault

Drag and drop your entire vault folder onto the upload area on the import page, or click to browse and select it.
2

Choose your destination

Select the Craft Space where you want your Obsidian notes to appear. Optionally select a destination folder to organize your imported notes.
3

Start the import

Click Import. You’ll see a progress bar as your vault is uploaded and imported. You can close the page at any time — the import will continue in the background.
Craft brings over your entire vault in one go, including:
  • All Markdown notes, converted into Craft documents
  • Images and other attachments, embedded in place
  • Your folder structure, preserved as nested documents

After the Import

Once complete, you’ll see a confirmation with a button that takes you to Craft, where you’ll find your imported documents.
  • Backlinks: Links between your Obsidian notes are preserved as links between the corresponding Craft documents.
  • Backup your vault: Before importing, it’s a good idea to keep a backup of your Obsidian vault.

Troubleshooting

Make sure all media files referenced by your notes are stored inside the vault folder you uploaded. Attachments outside the vault folder won’t be included.
Try restarting the import. If the issue persists, contact support.
