Using DeepSeek R1 in Craft

DeepSeek is an on-device AI model available in Craft, offering advanced reasoning and offline functionality. Here’s how to set up and switch between AI models while working in a document.

Configuring DeepSeek

  • Open Settings: Launch Craft on your Mac, click the profile icon in the top-right corner, and select Settings.
  • Access AI Models: In the Assistant section of Settings, click Manage.
  • Download DeepSeek: Choose between DeepSeek R1 7B (advanced reasoning) or DeepSeek R1 1.5B (lightweight tasks). 
  • Verify: Once download is complete, ensure your selected DeepSeek model is active in the Model section.

Switching AI Models While in a Document

You can quickly switch between AI models directly from a document:

  • Open a document in Craft where you want to use AI assistance.
  • Bring up the AI Assistant with the slash action. 
  • In the prompt box, select your desired AI model from the dropdown (e.g., DeepSeek R1 7B, GPT-4o).
  • The model will switch instantly, and you can immediately use it for tasks like content generation or reasoning.

Uninstalling DeepSeek

  • Open Settings: Launch Craft on your Mac, click the profile icon in the top-right corner, and select Settings.
  • Access AI Models: In the Assistant section of Settings, click Manage.
  • Click on the blue checkmark button to delete any of the downloaded models instantly

Security & Data Privacy When Using DeepSeek in Craft

DeepSeek operates as an on-device AI model within Craft, ensuring that all data processing happens locally on your device. This means your information never leaves your system, providing enhanced data privacy and security.
